I used to believe that an upside down flag was a sign of anarchy or rebellion to the government, and while I am unsure where I got that idea, I now understand that it is a common misconception. ![]() I am not sure as to why I didn’t notice it before but it definitely caught my eye as to what exactly the upside down flag symbolizes within the plot of House of Cards. In the final scene of the opening credits where the capitol building is seen from the view of the river and title “House of Cards” appears on the screen, the American flag is shown upside down as part of the title. Starting this post slightly off topic from the actual contents of episodes 3 and 4 of the Netflix series, House of Cards, I noticed something in the first five minutes of the opening credits of episode 3 that I had not noticed in the prior two episodes’ opening credits even though it must have been there.
